Menopausal Acne

Acne is the problem, which can be seen in woman and man. During puberty a woman and man can face this problem, which can last at the age of 40 years.

Acne problem occurs under the skin in the sebaceous glands. Sebum is the material which is secreted by the hair follicle which is use to make the moist and smooth appearance of skin. But in some stages of the life the secretions of sebaceous gland increases thus production of secretion during puberty, menstruation cycle and menopause also increases. Increase in Sebum level can cause many other problems like white heads, black heads, inflammation and red swollen pimples.

Acne problem during the menopause can be seen in various women. Skin age depends upon the various factors like genetic differences, change in hormone level like estrogen, testosterone and progesterone, pollution, direct exposure to sunlight etc. But the main cause of the skin problems or acne is the hormonal change. Hormones are secreted by various organs and are chemical messengers. Hormonal secretions affect the various tissues of the organs.

During menopause there is a great change in menopause acne hormones in a woman so she can face the acne problem or other skin problems like freckles etc. When a woman reaches at the age of 40 to 50 the decreased hormonal level adversely affect the skin. During menopause a deduced level of estrogen directly makes effect on bones and causes the thinning of bones and it makes changes in skin like increasing skin dryness, frail skin, reduced elasticity because of low level of collagen and the skin looks pale because of reduced blood vessels.

Another hormone affects the skin known as thyroxin, which is produced by thyroid glands. A large amount of this hormone makes the skin appearance soft, sweaty, delicate and glowing. If this hormone is not producing the required amount then skin will look dry pale and dull.

The oil gland of the skin is also controlled by the activities of the hormones testosterone. But the large amount of testosterone can produce the acne. As in the polycentric syndrome results in increase of facial hair, acne and irregular periods can be the result of irregularity of this hormone.

In the postmenopausal woman the decreased level of estrogen can cause the increase facial hair and skin problems.

Hormone replacement therapy is used for many years to combat this disease and all the diseases caused by the menopause. During menopause the skin become thick because of less fat under the skin. HRT reduces the effects of menopause acne.

An adverse effect of acne on the skin is that when it leaves scare on the skin. There are many other treatments available to remove the acne scars. A woman who wants to reduce the skin problems during menopause can use oral contraceptive pills. Menopausal acne problem is because of the low level of estrogen so antiandrogen can be helpful to cure this disease. Acne problem mostly face by the women having sensitive skin so they should wash their face properly with a deep cleanser. Postmenopausal acne moisturizers are also available in market to combat this menopausal acne problem.

Glycolic acid containing moisturizer can also helpful to minimize the effect of skin problem during menopause. A woman must avoid the direct sun light exposure. Because some products harmfully affect your skin so choose cosmetics that are good for your skin. Always use the good brand cosmetics for your skin. By making a little change in life style you can easily make your skin beautiful and you can solve your menopause and acne problems.
